Football does my nut in. My one crumb of comfort over the last couple of weeks has been the beautiful Brazilian music in the idents for the world cup TV coverage – although, obviously, because the the philistines at ITV don’t actually give a flying fuck about beautiful Brazilian music, they only play a paltry few seconds of each tune.
I decided to strike a blow against flag-waving nationalism and laddish stupidity by putting a mix together featuring Brazilian artists and music – but then decided to expand these self-imposed limits by also including the music of people who may have been to Brazil at some point.
It’s probably not for the purists by you’ll hear standards like Agua de Beber and Ye Me Le by people like Bossa Rio and Sinatra, as well as a few other bits and pieces that seemed to fit in with the general mood.
You can download both bits of the mix here. It’s not going to be up forever, so grab it while you can.
I hope you like.
